Star Services commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace …

Callidus-Health-and-Safety

A continuous programme of Health and Safety training is an essential part of Star Services commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

Staff are provided with sufficient health and safety information, instruction and training to ensure that they are aware of the hazards in the workplace and know what safe working procedures to follow to reduce the risk of injury or work related ill health, to themselves and others. This training is also essential to raise the level of staff awareness of Star Services health & safety and environmental policies, procedures and practices and ensure their effective implementation.

BSG Health & Safety Awareness Training Day

In March we held a Health & Safety Awareness course at our Salisbury offices which was delivered to Star Services staff by The Building Safety Group. This Health & Safety Awareness course provided a practical summary of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues identifying individual responsibilities, employer’s duties and what should be done if health and safety is put at risk.

CITB Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)

In addition, as part of our commitment to achieving a safe and healthy place of work, key Star Services staff members undergo Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) delivered by CITB, which introduces them to their legal responsibilities regarding health, safety, welfare and environmental issues.

IOSH Managing Safely

Star Services Project Managers are required to successfully complete the IOSH Managing Safely course, making sure they are up-to-speed on the skills they need to tackle safety and health issues in the workplace.

Directors’ Role for Health and Safety

Our Directors have undertaken the CITB Directors’ Role for Health and Safety course, which highlights the human, economic and financial implications of non-compliance with health and safety legislation and discovering how to continue to promote a positive health and safety culture within Star Services.

Asbestos Awareness

We ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to any employee where that employee is (or is liable to be) exposed to asbestos, or if that employee supervises such employees, in order to safeguard them.

The above is not an exhaustive list but illustrates our commitment to continually maintaining and developing our health & safety and environmental objectives.
