Work Starts with Aspire Defence

We have a number of projects that we have recently started work on alongside Aspire Defence. Our core team is headed up by Dan Townsend our Senior Contract Manager and James Mead one of our most recent project managers to join the team. With work commencing on a number of assets in Tidworth and Bulford we expect the next couple of years to be extremely busy with work on the camps. We got together with Dan and James to get the low down. Q: What is a typical day for you both? A: Currently we are in the process of approaching various sub-contractors for tenders. We are also in the process of reviewing drawings which has been issued from the client ready for approval. Q: What work is currently underway at Tidworth? A: We have 3 assets, 2 of which are refurbishments for the army, which includes a new kitchen and dining area. STAR PROJECTS

We have had a busy mid 2018 with the completion of many of our projects, including St. Peter’s School near Salisbury, and complete M&E installations at PC Building Supplies and Bordon Sports Pavilion. Other projects have also progressed well, including Army Veterans’ flats at Wilton Hill, where we are working closely with Our Wilton. They support veterans so that they can achieve their full potential and become an integral part of the community. Work continues on, amongst others, an animal hospital in Marlow, and at Stockwood Almshouses, a development of 66 units in Bristol where we are nearly complete. Our works for Aspire continue apace, with officers’ mess refurbishments at Tidworth and three tank workshops at Bulford. New projects have just started at Pembroke House in Guildford, a three storey luxury office development, St. John’s School in Leatherhead, a new swimming pool building, and at King’s Gate Primary School, part of a new housing development in Amesbury. Star Services has secured over £7 million of MEP orders in their third quarter across all sectors.

The work secured includes the following projects: A large extension to the existing facility at Bovington Tank Museum with a value of £600,000.   The creation of a completely new fire station facility with a value of £1 million in Fordbridge.   Stockwood Alms House for Bristol Charities which will provide an ‘extra-care’ facility for older people with 60 self- contained flats along with associated communal facilities. The value of this project is £1.3 million.   An exciting project in Wilton, Wiltshire which is the creation of regeneration and development specialists Our Enterprise, who are working alongside Redrow Homes and planning consultants Terence O’Rourke. This will be the first major housing development built with returning military personnel in mind. The value of this work is in excess of £900,000.   We have been selected as the preferred contractor to install the M & E installations in a new 420 place Primary School in Fugglestone Red, Salisbury.   A continuous programme of Health and Safety training is an essential part of Star Services commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. Staff are provided with sufficient health and safety information, instruction and training to ensure that they are aware of the hazards in the workplace and know what safe working procedures to follow to reduce the risk of injury or work related ill health, to themselves and others. This training is also essential to raise the level of staff awareness of Star Services health & safety and environmental policies, procedures and practices and ensure their effective implementation.   BSG Health & Safety Awareness Training Day In March we held a Health & Safety Awareness course at our Salisbury offices which was delivered to Star Services staff by The Building Safety Group.
